A new liquid injected into the bloodstream can oxygenate your blood without the need to breathe for 15 - 30 minutes.

This could have massive implications and uses, even outside the medical world.

Scientists have discovered an Earth-sized planet 0.0 light years away, which they claim has a 73% (or greater) chance of supporting intelligent life.

One scientist is quoted as saying: “… if my data is correct, it’s very, very, very slightly too warm.”

He also added that it “lacked a second moon.”

HOLO (haha I’m so punny) BALLS, this is awesome, an actual hologram.

Guys, the future is here. Are you ready?

Basically, what they claim is:

Researchers have discovered that if they eliminate a cholesterol membrane surrounding the virus, HIV cannot disrupt communication among disease-fighting cells and the immune system returns to normal.

Oh man, this week is a good one for science: FTL and AIDS breakthrough? Woohoo!!

Basically using a drug already widely used in the medical field, they’ve managed to whittle cancer tumours to almost nothing, and turn the cell’s ability to detect that something is wrong with it back on and allow it to destroy itself.

Still years away from being marketable and quite a few kinks to work out, but we might be getting there.
(EDIT: Seems you need large doses for it to be effective, but here’s the kicker, in large doses dichloroacetate is neurotoxic <== not sure that’s a word.)

Pharmaceutical companies won’t back it because it’s unpatentable and they won’t make money off of it.

Scientists Trap Antimatter for a Record Breaking 16 Minutes!!
(gizmodo) - Scientists working on the Antihydrogen Laser Physics Apparatus (ALPHA) near Geneva, Switzerland did something no other scientists have done. They stored atoms of antihydrogen for 1000 seconds (~16 minutes) which is 10,000 times longer than they’ve ever done before. By trapping and observing antimatter for that long, scientists can better understand the properties of it.
